| Some extracts from the minutes
19 April 1899 - The clerk was ordered to call the attention of the
District Council to the dangerous and unprotected part of the cliff near
Bakers Score.
23 January 1902 - Mr Colman resigned as Chairman
3 April 1903 - Rev T.B. Davenport was appointed a representative
manager for Corton School under the Education Act 1902. The clerk
was directed to write to the GE Railway Co pointing out the danger which
must arise from there not being a footbridge over the line at Cockles
Path, there being a lot of children coming that way everyday to school
22 May 1905 - Parish precept set at £17
2 November 1906 - Parish Council asked for a policeman to be
stationed here (nearest policeman was stationed in Blundeston)
17 Jan 1910 - A cheque was drawn in favour of the clerk for £25 being
5 years salary to the 31st March at £5 per year
15 September 1910 - Public meeting called by the parish council to
discuss the question of the recreation ground. Only five
parishioners present. PC decided not to take the recreation ground
over
2 February 1911 - Meeting to discuss the Rat plaque - nine
parishioners present
17 March 1919 - Mr Soanes stated that six bodies had been washed
ashore on Corton Beach in January and he gave notice that in the event
of the cost of providing a mortuary including the land being less than a
threepenny rate he would bring the matter up for further consideration
at the next meeting
Councillors at this time were: James George Cubitt, Robert
Harvey, Robert William Hood, Christopher C R Houghton, Edward James
Hales, Alfred William Soanes, George Soanes, John Sheppard Ward, George
William Wigg.
